We took the business apart looking all aspects: from pricing for jobs, buying of materials, use of the work force and the split of employees and using trades as and when. Within just a few months, after changing the business model we were achieving a monthly profit of £20k at the bottom line, and that continued to increase as did turnover until very recently when the market was affected by the downturn in the economy. Whilst the business continues to find trading difficult the changes made have given the business the chance to survive this down turn and remain in business and return for the upturn when that comes.
Keith was called in when the company had already achieved a turnover of £3m, but they were not making any profits and could not understand why.
