This month we introduce David Klaasen.

David is a Chartered Human Resource Management professional. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and moved into Training and Development, inspired by the measurable results it can produce, after gaining management experience in 5 Star Hotels and Haute Cuisine Restaurants.

With over 20 years experience he has designed award winning training programmes for the Méridien Hotel Group and developed nationally recognised Management Development programmes.

As an accredited Adviser and NLP Master Practitioner, David specialises in helping organisations understand and optimise models of best practice in Communication and Human Resource Management, to evaluate management effectiveness and implement organisational change.

David is our specialist adviser on HR matters and will conduct individual profiling for Board Member clients to provide insight to better team working through use of iWAM techniques.

David has assisted over 40 clients achieve internationally recognised standards. He is consistently rated as ‘very effective’ in feedback.

CASE STUDY


Millionaire Mentor Jonathan Radcliffe tells us about Chisenhale Consulting and JRL Nurseries for young children.

John has a background in financial services, management consultancy and business turnaround.

In 2005 he purchased a loss making private nursery business to add to his consultancy business and

worked hands on within both businesses over 4 years to achieve a combined turnover of £1.3million.

Chisenhale Consulting Ltd

A new business that grew rapidly as a result of focus, determination and skill in:

· Creation of a clear proposition

· Development of a number of ‘product lines’ for financial services

· Development and execution of a sales & marketing strategy

· Active networking

· Creation of a ‘business expansion’ coaching model; used with SME’s within our chosen market place to help them grow.

·Turnover (from a standing start) was £675k in year one with a pre-tax profit of £212k.

Clients range from large global organisations to smaller distributors who are looking to grow rapidly.

JRL Nurseries Ltd

Loss making, purchased in 2005. Established for many years it was losing money and in need of modernisation in business practices and brand.

We development clear objectives, engaging with core staff to provide a vision for the future, so staff could see a positive journey towards profitability within 3 years.

This needed the restructuring of a traditional hierarchical management structure, which also resulted in cost savings.

We put cost control procedures in place along with a programme of renegotiating contracts with 3rd parties.

A marketing and communication plan was developed that focused on:

a. Providing quality care

b. Building better parent relationships

c. Allowing flexibility for parents (many work non standard hours).

Re branding took place within 12 months involving tactical marketing materials, flyers, brochures etc, targeting of local employers offering a bespoke service to large employers, staff incentives for introducing new parents and children, discount voucher scheme for existing parents encouraging them to refer friends and family needing child care.

We introduced a focus on cultural change with the announcement of further planned developments for years 2&3. These have now occurred and included:

New fee structure, credit card payment option, investment in both internal & external facilities, improved terms and conditions for staff, very good Ofsted reports.

This all led to a rapid improvement in fortunes for the nurseries.

Turnover rose by c£10k per month and the business moved to profitability within 3 years.

Turnover has continued to grow (2008 - £525k) 2009 c. £550k and £50k pre tax profit.

John planned and implement a growth programme based on good marketing, improving staff conditions and morale and providing able leadership and management.
